Born in Bristol, England the bastard child of a pirate and a tavern madame, Christopher Peters first shipped to sea as a powder monkey at 7 years old. Affectionately known to his shipmates as Chris P., he was an early favorite of Charles Vane's, he had a fondness for gunpowder. He enjoyed tinkering with guns and by his teens had successfully modified several of the cannons on Vane's ship from fuse to flintlock. This modification was a feat history never credited to him, and as such, he demands should he reach his ultimate demise that his remains be fired from one of his guns, and that gun to be retired to the sea.
An expert gunner he is highly sought after. His guns and their modification might have served Blackbeard well in his fight with Maynard that fated day had he listened to Chrispy's rum fueled ramblings during their night of revelry in Ocracoke. But alas, he sailed on with Vane, his advice unheeded and Blackbeard was soon no more than a figurehead.
By 21 years of age he was given command of one of Charles Vane's prizes, aptly named the Miss Fortune, which he accidentally blew up while tinkering with a 24 pounder. Blown so far from the wreckage, Vane's search for Chris P. was in vain. He sailed off leaving him to float amongst the flotsam and jetsam.
He was found adrift on a hold door, by former shipmate Captain John "Calico Jack" Rackham and crew, with the remains of a badly burned and mostly eaten leg of a former crewman. It has been said when they hauled him onboard and asked of the leg he replied "Wot??... he was already cooked!" earning him the undignified moniker of Cannibal Chrispy.
He was not long at sea with Calico Jack, before our beloved Cannibal was caught in a tryst with Miss Anne Bonney and Ms. Mary Reade. This infuriated Rackham who put Chrispy back into the sea on a makeshift raft with little to no provisions. Thus that night of passion saved Chrispy from being captured and hanged with Jack, and ultimately saved Bonney and Reade from the hangman's noose as well, for if the truth be known the bellies they plead were indeed Chrispy's heirs. Legend has it that Chrispy who was a regular in the Port Royal jail and known to have had more than one guard on his payroll is the only person who knows what really happened to Anne Bonney.
Several days later Cannibal Chrispy was fortunate enough to be picked up by his old consorts the Pirates of the Treasure Coast, and has sailed contented on the Viceroy's Fate ever since. Though he'd captained many a ship, blown one up, lost one to a reef, grounded a few, and can't seem to remember where he left the one he took during the "big" opium haul of 1718....he has often been heard to say, "If'n I canny keep a ship o me own, I'd druther be a gunner on The Bounty, than wif me very own wife."
